Dear Ladies,

Our annual event – the Iwa International Charity Bazaar held at the Four Seasons Hotel in the month of September was a great success. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India, Mr Biren Nanda and his wife Mrs Rukmani Nanda by lighting of the lamp after which we showed them around the various local and international stalls that were on display. They were impressed with the effort put in and the number of visitors who came to the bazaar on that day. The Tambola stall by the Iwa was hugely entertaining and many visitors left with a smile on their faces with gifts in their hand.

We thank our various sponsors for the event who generously donated in cash and kind for this event. And cheers to all the committee members too for their united effort in the success of this event.

And last but not the least, we would like to convey our special thanks to Aparna Narang, our advisor for the bazaar, for her dedication and time to the organizing of this bazaar.

On to our next meeting: Due to Idul fitri holidays, our next meeting in October had been postponed to third week of October. Since the Hindu festival of lights is round the corner, we will be celebrating this festive occasion during our “Diwali Lunch” . This time, we have something new from Lai Ching restaurant - a demonstration of their two signature recipes: Hot and Sour Soup and the Dimsum ( veg and non-veg) direct by the chef. Ladies, do prepare yourself with your pen and paper to jot down these hot recipes and prepare them for your loved ones. You may come dressed in your Indian attire and also our Diwali Queen will be chosen on that day. Please note the lunch fee is Rp100,000 for the members and Rp125,000 for the guests.

Other Announcements:
With the continous generous support of the members, our Social Welfare committee stay committed with their social work at various places during Lebaran as follows:
1. Pusaka VI : Day Care for Senior Citizen – We distributed Kebayas, Sarong, Batik Shirt, Soothing Balm, Syrup and biscuits.
2 Nerah Murni (Near Taman Mini Indonesia) – We distributed necessity items such as small towel, bath soap, tooth brush, tooth paste & biscuits for Balita children aged 1 – 5 years.
3. Uswatun Hasanah Orphanage (Cengkareng) – We distributed the same necessity items such as small towel, bath soap, tooth brush, tooth paste & biscuits for the children in this orphanage as well.
4. Yayasan Dana Bantuan: We distributed Shirt, Pants, Biscuits and Milk for the scholarship school children.
5. 30 Scholarship Universities Students : We gave out cash Rp,100,000/- each.
6. Dewan Nasional Indonesia for Fisherman Family in North of Jakarta : Sembako Packets.
7. Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital: Sarongs for staff in Gynecologist Department – through Prof. R.S. Samil.
