If you have any financial query, regarding where to put your money our panel of financial consultants will answer them for you.

Question & Answer

Questions :

which is better investment option FCNR or NRE in terms of return considering the likely depreciation of rupee .

Answer :

In view of the depreciation of the rupee (in the past and likely to happen) in future CNR looks a better bet .But one should lock in FCNR rates in the short to medium term as FCNR rates should move up in the interim period . Also in dollars you have other investment opportunities like dollar bonds , structured notes .

Questions:

Are there any funds in Indonesia investing in international markets and since markets like the Dow have fallen so drastically, do you think now is a good time to,invest?

Answer:

Most of the funds investing in international markets are offshore from Indonesia.

In the longrun equities have generally outperformed other investments If you are a longtime investor then entering at this low level of Dow maybe a good idea depending on your time horizon / funds requirement and risk appetite .

Questions :

sir, i am working in jakarta. my question is if you have some hard money, then here to keep that money, is it safe to invest here in indonesia, or sent to india, and in Indiawhere to invest that money, either keep it in NRI account(and under which policy) if possible give all details regarding this matter.

Answer:

There are NonResident Indian Business Depts operating in various banks of jakarta like HSBC , Citibank , SBI , Bank of India to deal specially with this issue . You should invest in a country and business of which you have some information / knowledge and eventually faith / confidence .
Each of these banks have investment options though with a minimum cutoff mount and a minimum lockin period . So evaluate the same vis-a-vis your time horizon and risk appetite and then make your decision .
