One of the most
common questions asked is how often one should wash hair. Hair
and scalp should be kept scrupulously clean to maintain their
good health, and you should wash your hair as often as you need
to. In reality, washing does not harm the hair. It is the
product that you use. Harsh shampoos can strip the hair of its
natural oils and also leave an alkaline residue on the scalp.
The benefit of using herbal hair products lies in the fact that
extracts like Amla, Reetha, Shikakai are powerful natural
cleansers, but their use does not upset the normal acid alkaline
balance of the scalp.
Washing of hair has assumed greater importance today, especially
for city dwellers, because we are exposed to chemical air
pollutants, dirt and smoke which cling to hair. The frequency of
your shampooing depends on your hair type, on the season and on
whether or not you love in a polluted urban area.
Hair Cleansing
• Think quality when you select your shampoo.
• Wet your hair thoroughly before applying shampoo
• Do not use very hot water to wash hair
• Using a lot of shampoo does not get your hair cleaner. It only
causes a depletion of oil and moisture
• Apply the shampoo with a light massage, working it into the
scalp and hair with fingertips.
• Rinse your hair very well after your shampoo, to get rid of
all soapy residue
• To dry your hair, first wrap your head in a towel and let it
soak up excess water. Be gentle. Blot your hair instead of
rubbing vigorously.
• Do not brush wet hair. Use a wide toothed comb to get all the
tangles out, working from the ends upwards
• Avoid the excessive use of hair dryers. Allow the hair to dry
naturally.
Hair Conditioning
Beautiful hair is shiny, has resilience and elasticity, is
neither too limp, nor too dry. In other words it is well
balanced. The texture is smooth; there is body and bounce.
Hair conditioning is one of the important ways we can protect
hair, giving it the nourishment it needs to keep it smooth and
easy to manage. SHARINSE contains extracts of mint,
brahmi, arnica. It is especially formulated for all hair types
and can be used in combination with Shamla or Shahenna,
or alternatively it can be used as a final rinse. Add
Sharinse to the final mug of water and use it to rinse the
hair.
TIP OF THE DAY
Many home ingredients can be used as a hair rinse.
Tea is known to improve the appearance of hair. For a tea rinse,
boil used tea leaves in sufficient water. Cool the liquid and
use a last rinse. It adds body and shine to hair.
Beer adds body to the hair and makes it more manageable.
Lemon juice can be added to a mug of water and used as a last
rinse. This will benefit oily hair.
Honey helps to moisturize dry hair. An age-old recipe suggests
that 40 to 50 drops of honey can be added to a pint of water, to
make a honey lotion for the hair.
