Chandramouli, well-known
for his writings in The Jakarta Post, was born and educated
in Tamil Nadu, South India. Graduated from the University of
Delhi. Studied Cost Accountancy (AICWA) up to Finals. Way back in
1982, accepted an overseas assignment in Jakarta and since then,
living in Indonesia almost without break, except for brief annual
vacations to India.
To Chandramouli,
Indonesia is a "home away from home". Easily identifies
with the aspirations of the "common man" of Indonesia.
Fondly hopes that Indonesia's travails would be over, if not soon,
at least in the near future.
A "born
again" person, after a quadruple bypass surgery six years
ago, believes strongly that understanding and practising the 21st
Century 'religion' of "Seven Habits" ("The 7 Habits
of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey) would surely
bring in immense benefits to all.
Currently, employed
with the Lucky Textiles Group of Indonesia ("a good
management to be associated with") as Management
Representative (ISO).
Married to
Vasantha, the couple is blessed with a son, Dheepak, now 13 years
old, studying 8th
Grade in the Jakarta International School.
Started writing as
a hobby. Says, he's just a free-lance writer of
"feelings", rather than facts and figures. Finds
happiness in sharing the life's experiences and observations. A
voracious reader, sees interesting and humorous situations in
every day life, where others may find none of that sort.
First time, in the
1970s, wrote an article on the secular principles of the "Sastha
Cult" of Sri Ayyappan, the God of Sabari Malai, published in The
Indian Review. In Indonesia, found an outlet and a boost, with
The Jakarta Post accepting regular contributions of letters
and articles. In a decade of writing 'career' in The Jakarta
Post, hit a "Century Not Out" in the
"Letters" Section. Also contributed some 25 feature
articles so far to the Post.
A good team player,
positive thinker and a believer in the concepts of
"Continuous Improvement", possesses a critical eye for
details. A man of simple habits, vegetarian and a teetotaller all
his life. Describes himself as a sentimental and emotional type of
person. A lover of children. A lover of nature, and above all, a
genuine admirer of Mahatma Gandhi.
