How to Write Love Letters

Writing a note or letter to tell him or her your love is the quintessential way to express yourself in today's electronic world. Nothing beats an old aged piece of paper with words of love or poetry on it.

Get a good pen, preferably a fountain pen and write in cursive on good quality paper. When you're done, roll it up and tie it with a pink, red or purple ribbon.

If you can't find a ribbon, improvise. Or put the letter into an envelope and seal it with a kiss. You can add a few drops of your favourite perfume in, or something unique that will identify the letter with you.

Alternatively, if you're both into bits and bytes, you can send him/her a note via one of the many e-card sites.

First, begin by using a special salutation. Instead of just saying: "Dear Mary", say: "My most beloved", "My sweet honey pie", "Dearest Amazing wife", "My angel", "Dear one and only love", "Dear dream lover", "Dearest sweet sensation", "My seductive sweetheart", "My luscious baby" etc. Be as creative as you want. Use a word that has meaning for the both of you. If you have a pet name for each other, use that.

Next, decide how long your letter is going to be. Is it going to be one paragraph, in which case, just go straight to the point and tell her or him why you're crazy about them and how you feel when you don't see them. If it's going to be a longer letter, then plan out what you want to say. If you're feeling extra creative, just let the words flow out of your pen. the point is to have fun too. Try and write something meaningful, something that will bring tears to her eyes and make her run to the phone to call you. Something romantic!

Sounds challenging? Well you know what they say, if you can't write for nuts, quote someone! To help you out, look up the net. Although, you can copy the whole sample poem and letters from the net if you're really short on inspiration, we suggest you try and come up with your own poem or love letter. It'll be more personal and loving.

Finally, when you're done, don't forget to sign off. Unless it's an anonymous secret admirer kind of thing. Don't just sign off with sincerely, or love, John. Write something different, like: "Your loving boyfriend", "Your one and only", "Your biggest fan", "Your biggest admirer", "Your other half", "Your faithful servant", "Your sweet dessert", "Your munchiekins", "Your Romeo", "Your don Juan", "Your spicy dish", etc.

Put the note somewhere unusual, like in the fridge, under the pillow, somewhere where it will be a surprise. You can also mail it, mark it private and confidential to add some mystery to it.

One last note, if you decide to write the note by email or e-greeting card, be careful you send it to her/him only and not their whole office!
