MY BEST HOLIDAYS --- THE BEACH

by: Vaibhav Sagar

Crash, Boom, Splash!!! The waves crashed on the beach lulling us to sleep. We had finally reached Kuda Laut resort at Pelabuhan Ratu after a long bumpy ride. The cottage allotted to us was really beautiful and comfortable. I fell asleep in the extra bed straightaway.

The strange sound of the Gecko lizard, crickets and other nature sounds woke me up. I could not wait to get to the beach, so I hurriedly put on my swimsuit and with my beach toys rushed to my friends cottage. The beach was just outside our cottage and the view was magnificent. The sand was soft but black and the water was a deep blue.

Millions of tiny crabs scurrying all over and digging in the soft sand, the target of our pursuit. In an hour I had a bucket full of crabs and my swimsuit full of sand. We jumped into the incoming waves, boy it was cold! The waves cleaned us up and in the process we were swept off our feet and our mouth and noses were soon full of the salty water.

Breakfast time!! I heard my mother call. We realized how hungry we were and ran to the Kuda Laut café. Wolfed down delicious crepes with ice cream, banana shakes. We then showed off our crabs to all the people in the Café. We ran back to the beach with our younger sisters in tow to make sand castles on the beach.

Sand castles can make you hot, sweaty and very sandy. To cool down we all went swimming in the lovely swimming pool and drank coconut water. The attendants climbed up the surrounding tall coconut palms like monkeys to get us the very fresh coconuts.

Long walks on the beach with my parents and friends looking for seashells and beautiful round stones filled the rest of the days. All meal times at the Café were accompanied with music and dancing and ordering anything that took my fancy.

This must have been one of my most fun-filled days at the beach. Am looking forward to the next long weekend to go there again.
