There is this handsome hunk (Arjun Rampal) who lives in the hills. A PYT (Diya Mirza) arrives in town with a group of friends and promptly proceeds to miss her bus. The damsel in distress seeks the guy's help. Sorry, my mobike is out of order, he pleads. But one glance at the girl is enough to melt his heart. The two have a roll down a snow-covered mountainside. The girl is reunited with her group. Bus! Love blossoms before you can bat an eyelid.
But hang on, Deewaanapan, as the title suggests, is not really about love. It's about insanity.
Back to the story or whatever there is of it. After the brief encounter in the hills, the girl returns to Mumbai. The boy's father is transferred to the big city. Suits the guy fine. He bumps into the girl and passions are re-ignited. Enter the girl's stern papa, the city's wealthiest and most powerful man. He flies into a rage when he discovers that this middle class boy is whispering sweet nothings to his daughter. He orders the boy to leave the city in one month. He stands firm. Powerful papa tries everything to intimidate the hero and his family but to no avail. He is too madly, deeply, truly in love to notice that he is making an ass of himself.
