Like
so many Bollywood love stories in the past, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya is
about boy-meets-girl. In this case, Ajay (Sohail), an orphan meets
Ayesha (Sameera), and they fall head over heels in love. However, as
much as they want to spend the rest of their lives together, there
is a major problem in their way.
Ayesha's father Verma (played by Kabir Bedi)
is not pleased with his daughter's choice of partner and vows to
separate the two lovebirds. He even goes to the extent of using the
underworld to help him in his quest. This is where popular actor
Sanjay Dutt makes his special appearance as Bhaijaan - who is
entrusted with killing Ajay.
However
Bhaijaan, a devoted Muslim, is unable to perform his task as it's
the month of Ramadan and feels it would be against his religion to
murder someone. So he decides to wait till the Chand Raat (the end
of Ramadan) and during this time tries to make Ajay see sense. So
what happens after that? Does true love overcome the injustices
thrown in its path and win the day…?
