Mahesh Manjrekar's ”Pitaah” stars Sanjay
Dutt, Nandita Das, Jackie Shroff,
and Om Puri with Shivaji Satyam, Sachin Khedekar, Mita Vashishth,
Anupama Verma, and Salil Ankola.
The story revolves around a village where there is zamindari system and
class differences are still predominant. Women are still less than men
and
ill-treated. Pitaah is a story of consequences and circumstances that
forces
a common man to change the way he lives and behaves. Sanjay Dutt plays
a
worker for the zamindar (Om Puri). As is commonly known the story is
about
the problems faced by a common man (Sanjay) and how the consequences of
these problems turn him into a rebel. He does whatever a good Pitaah
should
do to lead a contented life with the family and protect them.
