TACKLE COMPULSIVE SHOPPING
  • Plan your buying. Go shopping only when you have fixed both your budget and the items you need.
  • Before you buy anything, ask yourself if you really need it.
  • Restrict your access to plastic money and credit.
  • Always take a friend or a family member with you when you’re shopping.
  • Get psychiatric help.
  • Find a hobby that gives you happiness and turn to it whenever you feel depressed or emotionally down.
  • Figure out the areas of your life that are causing the void (which you fill by shopping) and start working towards changing them.
  • Whenever you feel the urge to go on a shopping spree, try an alternative — try exercise.
  • Carefully keep a record of all your purchases for a month. Ask your spouse or a trusted friend to tell you whether you have spent rationally or gone off the deep end. Accept the criticism.
  • Bypass sales.
