Floral Care Tips

  1. If your flowers are wrapped in cellophane, immediately cut the flower stems at an angle, removing about 2cm of the stem, and remove all the leaves below the water line. Place the flowers in a vase containing clean water.

  2. Keep the flowers cool and out of direct sunlight and draughts at all times. Do not place the flowers near fruit or vegetables that produce ethylene gas and accelerate ageing.

  3. When you change the water in the vase, dissolve small amounts of sugar and bleach in the water to help feed and clean the flowers.

  4. Whenever the flowers are out of the water for more than 15 minutes, re-cut the stems before placing them in a vase with fresh water.

  5. If the flowers start to droop, cut about 2cm off the stem and lay the flowers in cool water for about ½ an hour. This works particularly well with roses.
