Straight Forward Pitching

The simplest way to hit straightforward short
pitch shots involves the following basic concepts in the setup
(assuming you are a right-handed golfer):
- Position the golf ball directly under or slightly behind
(toward your right foot) the center of your golf swing (sternum).
- Take your grip and align your hands opposite your left
thigh (it will feel as if your hands are well "ahead"
of the ball at address).
- Place at least 70% of your weight on your left leg (you
will feel as if you are leaning toward your target).
From this position, concentrate on the feeling of "hitting
the ball low." This should ensure that your hands are leading
the clubhead at impact.
Your goal is to hit the ball before you hit
the ground (click-thud). If you hit the ground before you hit
the ball (thud-click), you are most likely trying to help loft
the ball in the air.
