Automotive
Tips

Most of the major car manufacturers are
located in the 4 seasonal countries. Subsequently, most
of the cars produced and imported directly to tropical areas
such as Indonesia need special care. Major adjustments may
have been performed, yet special conditions in the tropics
needs to be catered, such as:
- The humidity level, daily average temperature and average
rain fall is usually higher
- Humidity may lead to a bad connection in the wiring
system due to higher corrision effect in the jack and
connector systems in the wing
- Constant high temperature may cause severe engine damage
as well as impact towards engine performance on its fuel
and oil consumption.
- Hard rain may do harm to the wiring system as well
To keep your car in main condition, follow these practical
tips:
- Upon purchase of the car, ensure with the dealer or
agent that they have adjusted the ECU (electronic control
units) and cooling system to adapt with tropical climate
and condition
- Check the connectors on your wiring system by Appling
a gold connector (the price for such may be quite expensive).
Or as an alternative, you can do regular check-ups that
can indicate early cases of corrosion. Cover the connector
with special material (silicon is recommended) and try
to have it airtight.
- Check the cooling system components, such as water
pump, radiator, water piping water pulery belt as well
as the water temperature gauge in your car. Ensure that
all indicator work well and fill the radiator with the
recommended liquid in your car’s manual Try to maintain
your car temperature to a level not exceeding 900 centigrade
(please refer to owner's manual booklet)
- High rain fall may cause floods, therefore deploy an
exhaust extension system and air filter breathing system
to avoid your car getting stuck in the traffic. Check
all the doors and window sealing and if necessary replace
the rubber parts because they have a life time validity
period.
