Lord Hanuman is one of the most well-known and celebrated Gods in Hinduism. He is known to be one of the most powerful, loyal and wise Gods.
Unlike other Gods who left earth after they have served their purpose, Lord Hanuman was blessed by many Gods including the power of immortality by Sita, Lord Rama’s wife. Amongst all of the generals, he is also the favorite because of many qualities that he possesses.

Loyalty
Story: Despite all the difficulties he’s been through and all the difficult tasks that the Lord Rama has given him, he still believes in his Lord. Through various stories where the Lord Rama has asked him difficult tasks such as giving a message to Sita when she has been captured by the evil king Ravana. Not only to the Lord Rama, but he would also be loyal to his friends. An instance of this is when he helped his friend Sugreev to take back his kingdom from the evil Vali.
Lesson: In every relationship, loyalty is needed. Any sort of relationship would not survive without loyalty in it. He also taught us to stay loyal to our friend and help them when they are in need. In life, we may never know when obstacles get in our way. Our friend’s helping hand can make a world of difference to the difficulties we are facing.
Humility, Purity and Strength
Story: Throughout various stories, Lord Hanuman has been told as a brave yet humble hero. He was able to expand in size, decrease in size, fly and was said to be immune to many weapons. Regardless, he was still very humble about his abilities.
He would always try to do the right thing, even if the task seemed impossible. There are many stories where he had the courage to fight evil, even when he was against the odds. Throughout it all, he continued to praise the Lord Rama and was able to remain extremely devoted and loyal.
Lesson: In our daily life, good and evil are always present and they are always there to test the limits of our morals. Lord Hanuman teaches us that we must always maintain a strong sense of perspective and do what is just and right. He also teaches us to be humble and stay grounded no matter of how successful we are or how much we’ve accomplished.
Brave and Wise
Story: There has been many stories where Lord Hanuman was told to be brave and wise. A story was told of the kidnapping of Sita, Lord Rama’s wife. Despite not knowing the full extent of his abilities, he braved the journey and crossed a whole ocean to fulfill his duty. He even fought the strong and ruthless Ravana in order to save Sita. In all of his conquests, he always gives his all not matter the size of the task.
Lesson: Even with all the self-doubt we had, it is no use to cower and give up. In fact we have to brave it out and rise to the challenges present to us. He also teaches us to persevere in the tasks that we are given, no matter how big or small. His devotion and commitment to his duties also contributes largely to Lord Rama’s success.
Adaptability
Story: During trying times, Lord Hanuman was able to persevere through the difficulties. There are even stories where it seemed impossible to solve the problem he was facing. One of the stories included was the time his brother Lakshman was poisoned. In order to save him, Lord Rama needed a special plant that only exists in a certain mountain. However he couldn’t choose which plant to pick because there were too many. To solve this problem, he enlarged himself into a giant and lifted the whole mountain.
Lesson: Despite the difficulties that are present in our everyday lives, there is a way to solve it. Even if the problem seems impossible, there are many ways we can solve it using our skills and creativity.
Be A Selfless and Good Listener
Story: It was due to his guidance and mentoring that Ravana’s younger brother, Vibhishana could become a great king of Lanka. Not only was he a great mentor and helped Vibhishana achieve his potential, but he was also selfless. For this reason, he hoped for the achievement of others and not for his own.
Lesson: In order to help someone, you will have to be a good listener and listen intently to the issues that they are having. A listening skill will help you immensely in helping others solve their problems and achieve their potential. Other than that, wiseness is also needed in order to help people in solving their problems.
Lord Hanuman is known to be one of the Gods with a variety of wonderful character traits. He is even said to represent Lord Rama in this earth. It will therefore be beneficial if we incorporate his good character into our daily lives. In this way, hopefully our lives will be much more smoother and we will be able to achieve our maximum potential.
