New Year’s Eve is the most festive night of the year, where many people enjoy a night of celebration with their friends, family or loved ones. Creating an environmentally friendly New Year’s Eve party celebration may be seen as a difficult task, but it’s not that is not the reality. There are many things you can do to limit the dangers that a party can pose on the environment.

Here are some ways you can try to do it:

Use Digital Invitations

Digital invites

Rather than use paper invitations, it would be much more environmentally friendly to send digital invitations. You don’t have to waste as much time and paper to make the invitations and you can just simply delete the invitation once the party ends. No muss, no fuss!

Environmentally-Friendly Party Confetti

Confetti may not seem like it would hurt the environment at all, but in fact plastic confetti can hurt the environment. It can be particularly dangerous if the confetti were to get into open waters and can be swallowed by a sea creature. For that reason, we recommend creating environmentally-friendly party confetti. First, you can just use dried leaves and punch holes for the confetti. Second, you can use shredded newspaper as your confetti. It’s the same fun, but still environmentally-friendly!

Reuse your Decorations

If you are one that has already had New Year’s Eve parties before, it’s perfectly fine to use the same decorations for your party. However, if you have not yet had any decorations in your party, you can simply buy quality items for the next time you are having a party. Invest in a disco ball, tea lights or anything you want to decorate your house with.

…or Make Your Own Decorations!

Otherwise, another environmentally friendly option that you can do to save on the trash is to make your own decorations. For instance, you can make your own photo booth by using fabric to be used to decorate structures made from cardboard boxes.

DIY Noise-Makers

No New Year’s Eve celebration is complete without noisemakers. Noise makers is also another place you can get creative, where you are able to celebrate the coming of the new year. For eco-friendly options, you can consider creating DIY noise makers such as party horns, party blowers and rattles. DIY rattles can be made with metal containers with coins, pens or pebbles. Maracas can be made by using raw beans or raw rice in wood containers.

Plastic-Free Party Dinnerware

Most of us would just use disposable plastic cutlery and plates when it comes to events like celebrations. It may be easy to dispose and make our parties easier to manage, however it is not the most environmentally friendly option. There are many things that you can do to minimize this environmental hazard, such as using biodegradable kitchenware or else using china plates instead.
