Collaborating with MNC Leasing, President Director of Bank SBI Indonesia Reveals Aiming for Financing in the Mining Sector

PT Bank SBI Indonesia continues to expand its business reach by collaborating with PT MNC Guna Usaha Indonesia (MNC Leasing) in a joint financing cooperation worth IDR 50 billion.

This collaboration is a strategic step for the Indian bank in expanding its financing portfolio,
especially in the productive sector.

President Director of Bank SBI Indonesia, Akash Shambhu Damniwala, said that this
collaboration is one of the bank’s strategies to reach business sectors that have not been
directly accessed, such as mining and heavy equipment.

“Bank SBI Indonesia is basically a corporate and commercial bank. We are trying to increase the portion of financing to the SME sector on a small scale,” said Akash when met at iNews Tower Jakarta, Monday (16/6/2025).

“Through this collaboration, MNC will help us reach areas that we have not previously
covered, such as financing mining trucks or other heavy equipment,” he said.

He added that MNC Leasing’s expertise and experience in the heavy equipment financing
sector will be an added value. Bank SBI Indonesia will utilize these competencies to add new customers and expand its rupiah-denominated financing portfolio.

Furthermore, Akash emphasized the importance of sustainability aspects in every form of
cooperation.

“The sustainability aspect is very important. MNCs pay close attention to this because it is a
mandatory requirement in their business practices. From our side, Bank SBI Indonesia is also always compliant with sustainability regulations from the authorities,” he said.

He also explained the target of this collaboration, which is to diversify the bank’s portfolio and reduce risks when entering new business segments.

“With the help of MNCs, we can expand our footprint in sectors such as mining. This will help us grow profitably and increase net interest margins,” said Akash.

The sectors prioritized in this joint financing are heavy equipment and operational vehicles
for mining, such as iron ore transport trucks and excavators. This has been stated in the
cooperation agreement between the two institutions.

Regarding the next step, Akash explained that Bank SBI Indonesia and MNC Leasing will
exchange information for prospective customers based on the terms and conditions that have been agreed. After that, teams from both parties will conduct assessments and coordinate in the technical implementation of the cooperation.

“Our team will meet to strategize for collaboration, ensure that the process runs effectively,
and can be realized immediately in their respective books,” said Akash.
