India celebrates its 77th Republic Day today, Monday, January 26, 2026, marking the day the Constitution of India came into force in 1950. The occasion stands as a powerful reminder of the countryโs democratic values, unity in diversity, and constitutional spirit.
As always, the grand Republic Day Parade will be held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, drawing thousands of spectators and millions of viewers across the country and abroad.
India will showcase its development story, cultural diversity and military strength.
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will attend as chief guests. The event at Kartavya Path, themed around 150 years of โVande Mataramโ, will be led by President Droupadi Murmu and begin at 10.30 am, lasting about 90 minutes. It will open with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial to pay tribute to fallen soldiers. Murmu and the chief guests are expected to arrive in a traditional buggy escorted by the Presidentโs Bodyguard.
