President Droupadi Murmu (on the eve of Independence Day) emphasized India’s march toward self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat), highlighting robust economic growth, resilience, and technological advancement. She called on all citizens — especially the youth — to support local production, unity, and inclusive progress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation from the Red Fort, described Independence Day as a “festival of hope and aspirations,” celebrating national courage and development. He paid tribute to the armed forces for their valor in Operation Sindoor, and reaffirmed a collective vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), emphasizing self-reliance and domestic innovation.

Ambassador Chakravorty also reflected on the longstanding and evolving partnership between India and Indonesia. With diplomatic ties dating back to 1949 and cultural exchanges spanning millennia, the two nations remain key strategic partners. Their cooperation spans trade, infrastructure and maritime security.

The patriotic atmosphere was beautifully amplified by performances from students of Gandhi Memorial Intercultural School and youth from various dance troupes. Music, classical and contemporary dances, and patriotic songs captivated the audience, embodying the rich Indo-Indonesian cultural tapestry.
