Witnessing Limbs Being Fitted – A Moment of Impact and Transformation
Sadhu Vaswani Center, Jakarta | August 2, 2025
On August 2nd, a truly moving event took place at the Sadhu Vaswani Center in Jakarta, where lives were changed—one limb at a time. This powerful day marked not only the birth anniversary of revered Indian spiritual leader Dada J.P. Vaswani, but also a celebration of hope, resilience, and human compassion. Fittingly, this day also coincides with Global Forgiveness Day, a tribute to Dada Vaswani’s message of peace and service.
The event was held in collaboration by Bridge Builders, JSSC and EcoYouth Foundation, with Yayasan Peduli Tuna Daksa, as part of the ongoing Limbs for the Limbless program. In a heartfelt ceremony, 30 artificial limbs were donated and fitted on individuals who had lost their limbs due to various circumstances.
These life-changing donations were made possible through the incredible success of the Play It Forward charity sports event—a youth-led football and badminton tournament organized by JSSC and Bridge Builders in June 2025. Proceeds from the tournament funded this round of prosthetic limb distributions, adding to the 42,000+ limbs already provided across Indonesia since the program’s inception in 2007.
The ceremony began with a powerful introduction to the Play It Forward movement, highlighting how sport and service can unite communities and create meaningful change. Attendees were deeply moved by performances from two incredibly talented individuals who, despite using prosthetic limbs, radiated energy, determination, and a zest for life.
One of the most touching moments of the day was the live demonstration where community leaders participated in the actual fitting of prosthetic limbs. Witnessing this process firsthand gave attendees a glimpse into the physical and emotional transformation that takes place—offering not just mobility, but dignity and new beginnings to those in need.
For many of the recipients, this event marked a pivotal chapter in their lives. The prosthetics are more than medical devices—they are symbols of renewed hope, opportunity, and empowerment.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to every volunteer, donor, organizer, and attendee who made this event possible. Together, the legacy of Dada Vaswani was honored not just in words, but through action that uplifts and inspires.
Let’s continue to build bridges, play it forward, and make impact tangible—one step at a time.
