Refreshing Pisang Ijo Recipe

During the hot summer months, cooler desserts are the best to consume. Among all the cooler drinks in Indonesia, Pisang Ijo is one of the popular desserts you can eat to lower your body temperature while also enjoying a delicious meal.

Ingredients for pisang ijo:

  • 100 gr tapioca flour
  • 15 gr rice flour
  • 30 gr sugar
  • ½ Tbsp salt
  • 200 ml water
  • 120 ml coconut milk
  • ½ Tbsp pandan extract

How to cook pisang ijo:

  1. Mix every ingredient in a bowl
  2. Cook in a pot until it thickens
  3. Lay a banana leaf flat to prepare the pisang ijo dough
  4. Shape the pisang ijo dough flat against the leaf
  5. Place the banana in the middle of the dough
  6. Roll the leaf to a cylindrical shape and bind each end with a toothpick
  7. Steam for 30 minutes
  8. Done!

Serving suggestions:

  • Prepare your bubur sumsum in a bowl
  • Cut up the pisang ijo into medallion shapes about 1 cm each
  • Arrange the pisang ijo on top of the bubur sumsum
  • Add some ice
  • Pour some syrup and condensed milk
