Machli Ka Salan or Fish Curry by Shabana Akbany

Machli Ka Salan or Fish Curry is a delectable dish. It is slightly spicy and completely delicious. Easy to make and a pleasure to eat, you can add this healthy recipe to your list of favorites.


  • 500 gms        sliced Salmon fish
  • 3                  Tomatoes   chopped
  • 1 tsp             Red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp             Ginger  / garlic paste
  • 1/4 cup          Yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp            Ginger — very finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp            Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp              Mint leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp              Salt
  • 1 tbsp             lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp            all spice masala
  • Oil for cooking  {about 3  /4   tbsp}

Method :

  1. Clean the fish and marinate it with salt and lime juice for half and hour. Wash and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil and add the tomatoes and stir well.
  3. Add the red chilly powder, ginger  / garlic paste and the yoghurt, mix well and cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add in the ginger slices, coriander leaves and mint leaves.
  5. Stir and cook till tomatoes are tender.
  6. Add salt and the fish. Gently stir and semi cover the pan and cook on low fire for about 10 minutes. In 10 minutes the fish will have flaked out
  7. You may add lemon juice to this gravy before serving.
  8. This dish can be eaten with chapattis and plain rice.
