1. Mount Prau

Mount Merbabu is located on the border of Magelang, Boyolali and Semarang districts. The mountain with an altitude of 3,145 meters above sea level is dominated by grassy savanna. The scenery is even more beautiful with edelweiss flowers growing on the hillsides. The most popular paths to the top of Mount Merbabu is the Selo route in Boyolali District. This route offers views of the majestic Mount Merapi with its very active crater.

Mount Sumbing is the second highest mountain in Central Java with an altitude of 3,371 meters above sea level. The location is on the border of Wonosobo, Magelang and Temanggung districts. Mount Sumbing has four peaks, namely Kawah, Buntu, Sejati, and the highest is Rajawali. The routes to get to Mount Sumbing are Bowongso, Capit Parakan, Garung, Butuh Kaliangkrik, and Sipetung. Along the Butuh Kaliangkrik route in Magelang, hikers will enjoy the phenomenon of stacked houses or Nepal van Java.
5. Mount Slamet
This is the highest mountain in Central Java with an altitude of 3,432 meters above sea level. Mount Slamet is located on the border of Brebes, Tegal, Banyumas, Pemalang and Purbalingga. The hiking trails include Bambangan, Guci, Kaliwadas, and several others. Climbers should know the condition of the mountain before hiking since Mount Slamet is an active volcano. A beautiful natural scenery of an active crater can be seen from the top of the mountain.
6. Mount Lawu
Mount Lawu is located between Karanganyar and Magetan Regencies. With a height of 3,256 meters above sea level, this mountain has several peaks, namely Hargo Dalem Peak, Hargo Dumiling, and Hargo Dumilah as the highest peak. There are some interesting spots there, namely Mount Lawu temple, edelweiss flowers, and the cool grass savanna. On the top of the mountain, there is Warung Mbok Yem which is known as the highest food stall in Indonesia.
7. Mount Argopuro
This mountain has a height of 3,088 meters above sea level with a peak called the Rengganis peak. Hikers can descend from the summit via the Baderan route where there is a savanna called Cikasur. Animals such as wild boar, deer and peacocks still roam there. The mountain is in Probolinggo and has a unique garden, namely Taman Hidup (Garden of Life) which has beautiful panoramas.
